How much KEFIR shud I consume ?


Hi friends , Since you will be starting to consume kefir for the first time in life and  i m sure after some time you would only want more of this super food .

KEFIR & Acne !



KEFIR -- which i m a great fan of does some good to everybody's body whether you feel it or not .

If you are suffering from some ailment then you  will notice those diseases disappear gradually so pls don't stop consuming KEFIR . And if by god's grace you are not suffering from any ailment then u will feel healthy , energetic and your gut flora will increase and over all you will feel nice .

Kefir  is believed  to be a good home treatment for Acne . It is thought to work by controlling cholesterol, adding vitamins in the body, and ridding the body of harmful bacteria. Studies have been conducted to test the effectiveness of kefir for acne, and many have shown that the product  may work well for facial acne in young adults and teenagers.

Kefir grains contain a vitamin called biotin, as well as vitamins B1, B12, and K . Biotin ( Biotin, a vitamin found in foods such as spinach, may be beneficial in treating acne ) helps the body correctly absorb B vitamins and works to heal certain organs that control the health of an individual's skin. By treating organs like the kidneys and liver, biotin may play a key role in the success of kefir for acne.

The bacteria and yeast found in kefir grains make this substance a natural antibiotic. The good bacteria is generally able to kill off toxic bacteria in the body. These grains may also be able to reduce individuals' cholesterol levels, which can also help to prevent and control acne.

Why you have acne ?

If having an oily skin is the main reason for you having acnes  and also if you consume sugary foods then you must try kefir .

The lack of gut flora able to breakdown the sugars causes excess oil production. This reason for lack of gut flora may be due to:

MILK KEFIR in 4 Easy Steps !


Choosing Milk for making dairy magical KEFIR !

To make Kefir you can use Cow's , Bufallow's , Goat or any other milk that you wish to use in making your own KEFIR ! Infact you can use almost any kind of milk to make your kefir .

Its always good to boil the milk to kill probable pathogens in the milk before using it for making kefir. Don't use extremely hot milk while making Kefir . Milk has to be warm .

You can even make it using just water, although your kefir is likely to end up a little runny and thin.

Thicker milks will always give the best results. Depending on where you live, the thickest milk might be labeled as 3.25%, whole or full-fat milk.

Skimmed milk will also make good kefir, but it won’t have that same, satisfying taste as it gets from regular milk . .However if weight loss is your concern then i recommend using low fat or skimmed milk while making KEFIR .

Coconut milk is another great alternative for your kefir. It has a good consistency, perhaps even slightly thicker than regular milk, and of course you get the antifungal benefits of the caprylic acid in the coconut too.

KEFIR GRAINS


Kefir Grains  are the building blocks of Drinkable Kefir .

Kefir Cultures if unused should be stored in refrigerator with some milk added to them in a glass jar .

If stored properly Kefir grains can be reused to make many batches of KEFIR .

They look like Cauliflower in appearance .

 When you’ve finished your first batch of kefir, you can place the same  grains in a little milk and leave them covered in the fridge.

How to make KEFIR ?

Making Kefir at home is very simple  and easy .  You might be prompted  or wooed to buy KEFIR from your local  nearby store but i recommend   making your  nutritional punch yourself at home since   home made kefir is believed to have around 60 strains of healthy probiotics than any kefir bought from the supermarket store which has very  less amount of probiotics  . Home made kefir is also more nutritious than any store bought kefir .  Making kefir is no rocket science  so please make kefir at home to get its maximum benefits.

To make Kefir you need following things :

1) Glass Jar
2) Kefir Cultures or kefir grains or kefir granulas ( which you can buy from me )
3) Milk which has been boiled  to remove any pathogenic Bacteria and then warmed  .
4) Wooden Spoon
5) Plastic Strainer 



METHOD :

 1) Put warm ( pls dont put hot milk as it will destroy kefir grains ) milk in the glass jar and add the Kefir Cultures in it and stir softly . Close the lid then . You  should also avoid  cold milk as this may shock the kefir grains and refrigerated milk is a big NO . Only use room temperature milk .

2)  Keep this mixture in room temperature inside a kitchen cupboard  for 24 hours and this will lead to fermentation of the milk .

3) The unique mixture of milk and kefir cultures will  give kefir its distinct flavor and texture after 24 hours . Take out kefir after 24 hours from the cupboard and you will see some whey( watery liquid ) on the top which is normal . Stir the kefir using a wooden spoon .

4)  After Stirring  , sieve the kefir  using wooden spoon  in a glass container and yooohoooo !! our Kefir is ready to drink. You will see some frizzyness in kefir which is normal as it is CO2 ( carbon dioxide )  released during the fermentation process .

5) You can put kefir in fridge and drink when its cool . It will taste more delicious when cooled .

6) The same  Kefir grains can be reused for making next batch of kefir :). To make next batch follow the steps mentioned above from 1 to 5 .

Note : You can use the same glass jar to make next batch of kefir . There is no need to wash the jar again and again . You can wash the jar after a week or so . Fermentation will be better if we use the same jar .




NOTE : The kefir grains  or cultures are quite acidic, meaning that kitchen implements made from aluminum, iron, brass or copper are likely to release toxic metals into your kefir or on to the grains. Stainless steel is much less reactive however, and is a good alternative if you don’t have more suitable tools. Thus opt for Glass Jar , wooden spoon and plastic sieve when handling KEFIR.
Also make sure that everything is really clean. This applies particularly to the glass jar in which the milk and kefir will be fermenting. Any contaminants may spoil your kefir and you’ll have to start  all over again !!


KEFIR & Weight Loss



Since kefir has all the necessary nutrients , calcium , Proteins etc thus consuming it as a subsitute for one meal preferably breakfast can also assist in loosing weight .

If you include low-fat kefir in your weight-loss menu and you consume fewer calories than you burn off each day, you should lose weight .

Regularly drinking Kefir helps to reduce BMI , Lower waist circumference and also body fat . One reason for this is kefir’s high protein content. Protein helps you feel full for long periods of time and boosts your body’s energy expenditure and makes you eat less by controlling your mouth .

Taking Breakfast of Kefir and your  one  favroute fruit will give you all the necessary health benefits  that your body needs to be active all day long  as kefir has all the most essential probiotics needed  for a healthy and a fit body  !

Kefir taste like somewhat similar to Yogurt and since it is a lot thinner than yogurt so it is also called
  "DRINKABLE YOGURT " !!

Like Yogurt  Kefir is also made from MILK .

So you can call Kefir a fermented drink made from MILK   similar to Yogurt  !
